Lizardy 8th army list (Kurts venture in wfb)

Was watching on with envy at all the games of 8th happening and felt like dusting of my lizardmen :mrgreen:
Below is an idea for a list that was running thru my head, along with other stuff but that's not for this world to know:)

Slann 345pts
Scar vet bsb 168pts
Saurus reg 25 strong 305pts
Saurus reg 29 strong 349pts
Skinks skirmishers 20 strong 166pts
Skink reg 34 strong + 3 krox 412pts
Saurus cav 8 strong 330pts
Jungle swarm 2 bases 90pts
Steg 235pts

Total 2400pts :)

Full commands where poss scar vet sits in big saurus with the fear causing magic banner making it a 5 wide 6 deep reg alongside a 5x5 reg.

What do people think?

Nice. Big solid units of hard infantry. Thats always going to look cool to me. :D

I'd be tempted to drop the swarms and try get some terradons in their.

that big unit of skinks i'd drop to two units.

I found the Slann to be great in YOUR magic phase but a bit pathetic in defence so need to be careful with him

Personally I have never been a fan of spending so many points on one model so my lizardmen armies never featured a Slann. I would also drop the cavalry in favour of 3 salamanders. I agree with Scotty about the Terradons.

Have you considered having 4 Krox in your skink Krox unit?

Possibly get two skink/krox blocks and some salamanders in their if you drop the cav and reduce size of other skink block to the same.

Did I not put that in my write up (looks at list) Yup I did 4 of them in the big block (but my have only just written 3 :? Oops) altho I do think braking it into to smaller blokes with 2 krox's each:)

Although I seriously have not been down the club in ages, my passion for WFB is stil with my lizards. I agree with most of the previous comments - my 2K was tested against Carl's new Beastman force recently and although he created a 'Gargon' monster behind my Slann unit, got his ambush sorted first time and had way better dice than me in turn 1 I might add!. The game went my way eventually. I defonately like the new rule set in some areas though and it stops more than one skink steg rider in 2000pt lists.

My 2K list is made as the scroll caddy idea is now out, so I've gone magic heavy - without listing the toys etc:

Slann - GEN and BSB - 475-500
14 temple guards - st, Musician shiny banner - 270
Sk Priest on Engine of gods - 380
Sk priest - 65
16 Skinks, 2 Krox - FC - 210
16 Skinks, 2 Krox - FC - 210
12 SK Skirmishers - 84
2 Salamander H Packs - 150
2Salamander H packs - 150

although when play tested this little lot showed how a poor magic phase can effect you it also showed the new miscast table to be a big danger; as Carl's level four wizard prooved in turn 4 by removing both his own and my right flank with a couple of miscasts and big template death toll.

Honestly I think you have gone overboard with magic there. I think you will struggle to have the skinks do anything with the new magic system. I'd also put more size in your combat blocks. They arn't going to last five minutes.

FOUR SALAMANDERS!!!! Man you are gonna make a lot of freinds with them! :lol:

A bit of a points denial list that one. Good luck with it though. If you like it; stick with it.

The main thing I've picked up with V8 is bigger is better!

Good strong comments from good strong players.

During the re-match with Carlos I found that the small blocks of skink Krox mix were ineffectual, due to the krox being removed before they struck and the ranks only counting after combat instead of before. So if you can afford them the big blocks of saurus are probably the way to go.

The salamanders are only rearly good for one breath before dice allow a charge range, but the best points of note were:
Carls Beastigor charriot charging and re-directing a massive 24 inches (two six's nd a 5 rolled), costing me the engine nd a skink unit.
My cage of fire from the slan, followed with wind from a skink causing 22 casualties in total for 2 spells...comedy!

I may have to have a re-think with one all as it stands for my boys.
