Welcome to a 'Mans' game ;) not a whiff of cheese to be had!

I've got a Flemish army that can morph into:-

Normans
Bretons
Western Franks
Normans from Beyond the Golden Gate
Early Crusaders

I can second advice from Toby and Scotty. Skirmishers are a must have - units of 9 (3 to cause a panic) You'll notice some differences from WHFB which makes life interesting to say the least. It is a very tactical game where characters are used for leadership rather than combat prowess. Not to say that some characters can't do the job in hand-to-hand but they arn't anything like fantasy killing machines!

I was going to go to JJ's and get some cloth badges made. Then a quick search online for some black cardigans. A bit of sewing and hey presto!!!

hI, just got back home, so I have the shieldwall book now, and I have decided that for my army composition i'm gonna go with wessex saxons, mainly because I have alot of family living there, and the special rule of being to able re roll bad hit once a game is pretty good, meaning my units will rarely bounce. Unfortunately though, I dont have the rulebook so alot of the rules you are saying are making no sence to me what so ever  , e.g the splitting on units, where i get the jist of it,being able to mix differnt unit types together.

Anyways, with wessex in mind, a rough list looks like this:
Eorl 150
dha 1

Ealdorman 60
BSB 15

24 Ceorls 144

24 Ceorls 144

24 Ceorls 144

9 Geburs 36

9 Geburs 36

9 Geburs 36

9 Geburs 36

20 Huscarls 400

20 Thegns 220

Total 1420

With the 80 points leftover I will probably buy command for a few units and maybe another unit of Geburs.

Cheers,
Will

You need to read- first few pages of shieldwall book for some rules and pages before your am list aswell (it has more rules) These books are not laid out like WHFB books. Like old WHFB books so the special rulea are their but not given a firework display to tell you about them.

You might want to add 500pts too, as we've been playing 2000pt games :D
