Macedonians/Successors

Cant get the expensive options (1st) to 9 models.

Another option I've thought of is this:
Drop the foot hero and upgrade the 12 skirmishing Peltasts to 16 with Shields, Thrusting Spears and Musician. They can operate alongside the other ranked Peltast unit to hold a flank, or as reserves.

This option appeals to me as they can skirmish if neccesary (Light Infantry) and I'm not trying to squeeze in a unit of cavalry, which dont quite fit the role I want them to do, or unbalance the list.
For now I shall be a proud and mentally impaired player who apparently shares the same intelligence level of that of a chimp. Now if you would excuse me I have pressing matters to attend to, I have found a stick and I am going to poke a banana.

I went for 16 light infantry with my 2k list as they can multi-task.

This option would give me 2 Light infantry units, one 16 and one 18, probably a better option than another cavalry unit and they can operate together or on both flanks. Oh and they've both got Javelins too!

Looks like you have managed to settle your problem already, my penny's worht would be your army seems defensive so the extra Infantry would be a choice for me.

Your Train is good but not amazing.

But I do feel dropping the archers might be worth it in whatever you do

Also, you may find that kontos aren't allowed at tournaments, as they are basically lances.

Nope, they're only +1 strength and always strike first. They also take both hands to use and therefore cavalry cant use shields, they're appropriate for this period though only light cav have them, which acted as lancers. That would be lancers like in napoleonics, not Knights.

Has anyone used cavalry with kontos then? Is it really not allowed in tournaments?

Kontos aren't allowed in the Cold Steel event at the beast in january, though thats most likely because they're sligtly out of period.
My shock cavalry use Xyston whixh have the same rules (+1ST on charge, ASF), the difference is thatKontos strike before Xyston and Pike strikes before both. Kontos is only available on the paeonian cavalry, which acted as scouts or lancers, though they have no armour at all.
