Well guys after all I have read about the new Warhammer edition I think i can safely say "I'm in!" :ugeek:

I am going to try a few practice games with the Empire army I have as it has loads of infantry but for the new edition I feel I need a new army. :geek:

So what to choose. :?

Recently I have had WoC, O&Gs, Skaven and Empire. As tempted as I was to start a new skaven army I think (not sure yet) I will have a new army. What do you think I should go for then? :D

Infantry has had a huge boost imho. That and cheap troops.

I am not going with the above however as I have already 'done' them. There are a lot of armies that have access to some form of cheap horde style infantry. Marauders, Dark elf and high elf spearmen, Bret halberdiers, all empire foot etc.

So what do I go with? Should I go with whats best or whats hardest to use? DO I go lizards with Saurus blocks? Do i go magic lite or heavy? What about warmachines? Min or max?
SO we have...

Humans: Empire, DoW, Bret
Dwarf: Chaos or Normal
Elves: Wood, High or Dark
Undead: Vamp or Tomb
Ogres, O&G, Lizards
WoC, Deamon or Beasts.

I do NOT want to have a cheesy army. Your thoughts please...

I think you should do a Beastman list with no monsters, chariots or minotaurs.

good shout.

But Sedge and that type of list won't mix. He could try Undead but with new book they've been slapped until errata

Ok boys be nice.

I do not want a list to be like the Deamons, VC or Dark elves were in 7th. (oh what armies did you two have again.... :? ), what I want is something good to use, flexible enough to reward good play rather than cheesy builds.

It MUST be fun to paint.

It has have at least some infantry. I love the old foot sloggers; all my armies have been infantry based (well at least at the start, the Empire went more cavalry over time).

It'll be fun to have something that wasn't that common in the last edition. SO none of the usual builds apply. No skink skirmish hordes, no magic spam VCs, no Bret RAF, no WoC knight lists etc.

Of my current armies, my current build of O&Gs would be fantastic. Heck I have LOADS of painted Orcs. a couple of stone throwers and a couple of chariots. In this edition they all just get better. I dunno if I want to jump on the new wave of O&G armies that will now appear.

Anyway lets have an opinion.

Whys that then Toby? It could be good with huge blocks of tough infantry. I don't know what the current BoC are like so enlighten me.
