Well i was expecting some more radical or actual changes for the books.

It's only really re written stuff to ignroe unit strength etc
One magor bug has been it's dealt with some of the stuff in each book which would be standard kit in a tournament list but the rest has been left as is. Well that sucks and im balances things a bit.

Point for point Humans are the best by a country mile

I got the super shiny edition today. The book is the Hammeronicon with some papyrus-ey type paper on it too.

I might play the game itself depending on whether the High Elf models in the starter set look any good or not.

I have read through some of the rules so far and there are plenty of little bits and bobs that make this rule set so different. I am still not so sure about the charging stuffbut after a few games I am hoping that will sort itself out.

Still I was a few weeks of playing boats before i immerse myself in warhammer.

One thing is for sure, tournament games will no longer be 2000 points and games workshop will be licking their lips at all the extra purchases that have to be made.

Cavalry arnt pants Scottie, you just cant use them as battering rams anymore soyour tackics just need to change...hold on a mo... all you ever take is foot troops anyway and a few units of dogs which we both know are pants :)

Mike P seems to have good vibes from what he has read.

So how will 8th affect tourney's then? I know Jervis put out that statement that he's changing the GW GT format - hopefully no more top 10 finishes dominated by daemons and dark elves!

Looks like their will be more points. But less units if that makes sense. so we won't need such huge tables for big games however I am not too sure about all the swarms of scenery.

People who actually own the new rule book will be able to correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've read on various forums terrain doesn't seem to slow down movement ( apart for cavalry ).

Although when you are deploying terrain if you role the wrong result the terrain goes " bad " - wonder if that means trees can go bad tempered and sarcastic like the Wizard of Oz ?? :D

The game I saw between Will's Empire and Dwarf army ( didn't catch the fella's name ) seemed to crack along .

That was me. It was only small (1500), but did go pretty quickly. I'm looking forward to getting in more games of this edition (after having a long, hard think about my tactics...)

Hello Phil!

I should have asked your name - sorry .

The Steam Tank seemed to be your biggest headache - any rules for having it clamped then costing him £500 to have it removed ?? :)

You don't find out what terrain does until you send someone in to it, as I found out when I had a unit of Shades go into a wood and never come out.

Also Stanks are nasty, but anything can wound anything else on a 6 at least, so it shouldn't be invulnerable. I hope.

Played 8th last night, was a bit different.

I found it less about avoidig charges and setting up traps as you might have done in 7th and more about rushing over the table in a few turns and just getting stuck in.

Combats were very easy and my hordes of troops proved too much.

Steam tank got to fit some zombies... wasting it's points and loosing 4 wounds in the process!! staurt unable to roll higher than 1's mostly aswell as auto hitting for it not havin a WS or I.

Cavalry aren't able to beat big blocks easily these days they get attacked back which can be a disaster for someone roling 1's

My adavantge in this game was my whopping 240 Infantry aswell as a few other bits, soakimg up anything that was thrown at them and then smashing the empire infantry with the relentless swarm.

I enjoyed myself and was lot less stressful to play than previous edition( to much thinking sometimes) and my style of playing was well suited to this edtion so my first army list appeared to be spot on. which is great for me- maybe a few more tweaks though
