ACW Confederates

ACW Confederates

Postby Jonny H » Jan 15th, '10, 10:58

I thought I'd start my Confederate blog today. I've been in a painting groove of late, resulting in 6 Confederate troops being done very quickly.

I'm thinking of basing my small force on a Mississippi River patrol - but more reading is needed first.

When I get home tonight I'll see if I can work all the buttons on my digital camera and get a picture up. If not I'll see if Scotty can bring his little pink camera on monday.

Bring your camera Scotty. I'll bring my completed barbarian front rank and my ACW Confederates - I might even have some other figures done.

I brought my camera, and glad I did.

Some lovely confederates johnny. And a busy club night to boot.

I'm really pleased with the end result. Sprayed and inked up 12 more figures yesterday. So hopefully after a few hours sleep later on today I'll be able to get them done. I'm looking forward to having a painted force. I need to pick up another grey sometime, so that a slight variety will be present within the uniforms. I think vallejo 884 stone grey will do the job.

I'm tempted by some Zouaves - big baggy stripped trousers!

They also wore a variety of home-dyed clothes in a variety of browns and tans.

I've got all the shades of brown I'll ever need! Strange how some paint colours multiply. I'll be doing a few with dark blue trousers as there is plenty of historical evidence of 'Rebs' wearing captured trousers.

Union trousers tended to be mi-blue, ony officers had dark blue, but that made them stand out as a target...........

So after feeling a bit crappy most of the day after spending almost 5 hours to get home - snow on Birdlip is never good - after a 12hours night shift. I decided to relax and sit and paint some more ACW figures. Twelve more are on the go now and I've cleaned up 12 more ready for spraying. I can highly recommend sticking the figures to strips of balsa 5 - 6 figures in a line. It makes them very easy to paint

I've gone for some mid blue trousers (my bad on the other post, wasn't really paying attention) and some blue grey trousers along side my normal grey. I've done a couple of butternut (light brown) jackets for variety. Hopefully I'll have another good painting session on friday and I'll be able to finish at least 6 alongside some Gauls.
