Sir Gobbolots Crusade!!! (Whoops army)

Sir Gobbolots Crusade!!! (Whoops army)

Postby Toby » Jan 19th, '10, 23:06

Sir Gobbolot was once an ordinary goblin, so ordinary in fact that no-one knew his name, well they didn't need to really when 'Git!' followed by a good kicking would do! His only redeemable feature was his learned ability to run and hide, which came in handy when the bigger boys got a bit rowdy and so when the day of days came and light turned to dark, the sky wept fire and brimstone and the rivers turned to blood, he did what he did best; he ran and hid.
Upon finding a nice new bolt-hole he curled up and slept, slept and dreamt, dreamt of wondrous cities and plains of grass and sand. Images of a valiant host of righteousness swept over him as he saw bands of infidels hiding behind walls not rightfully theirs and then he saw himself, resplendant in shining armour atop a white steed holding aloft a mighty sword of power!
A sharp pain woke him up and he discovered he was lying upon a jagged rock, but under the rock lay the sword of his dreams! Snatching up the sword he stumbled out into the chaos of the new world, torn by quakes and fire, bands of survivors
roamed the land. Upon seeing him they surged forward, a strange sense of calm and a power he hadn't felt before corsed through him, the words filled his head and he bellowed ' I am Sir Gobbolot!' , as he strode forward and with a mighty swing of his blade smote the leader in two, the rest stunned by what they saw and scared as the one time runt seemed to grow in size fell to their knees.... visions of righteousness filled his mind and he new what he had to do.
Now Sir Gobbalot leads his followers east to the holy land where it's his destiny to retake the cities from the infidels and lead his troops to glory!
Along the way he has found two worthy to be his squires and the army has become adept at scavanging battlefields for loot and equipment, all the better to retake the lords righteous domain! One slight problem of how to carry all the loot and siege equipment was solved when they came across a rather befuddled looking Giant; promises of loot, smashing things and redemption in the eyes of the all father tied him to their cause!

So beware all the infiels and non-believers, Sir Gobbolot is leading his crusade to reclaim the Holy Lands!

I expect Steve will smack your arse for 6 bolt throwers. Drop 2 and stick in either a rock lobba or a chariot.

Yes indeed!

All the magic items are available to goblins.
Yeah 6 is a bit naughty but the rest of the army is so rubish it kinda balances out, though I'm not sure I even have 6 models! The easiest swap is drop two for a rock lobber.

This army will consist of all the goblin models I can get my hands on and that means loads of my crappily painted old models alll mixed in with newer crappy painted models.

Pro's of the army:
Characters have potential in combat to deal damage
Lots of troops
big scary giant
lots of artillary

Cons of the army:
Leadership 7
ws2 troops
Characters have virtually no armour
absolutely no magic defence

I've sent a email to Steve making sure the list is ok.

After a bit of thought I'm thinking of puting the Macedonians on hold for the time being, as far as painting goes, in order to concentrate on the Crusaderz. I've been planning a Goblin BloodBowl team called the Crusaderz for a long time and it just seems right to use the idea for my Whoops army, by putting the Macedonians on hold will allow me to spend the time on the Crusaderz and do a proper job on painting them up.
So expect to see a lot of little green bodies in white surcoats and crosses!

Well I've had a dig around and I've got enough goblins put together but unpainted for the entire army, the vast majority are common goblin models, but I've put in a few night goblins for their cloaks and cowels which will help with the crusader look. Now just to get painting!

Painting scheme will be very quick and easy, brown spray undercoat, light basecoat of bleached bone and highlight/top coat of white.
