Hive Fleet Constrictus: 40K Blog

Right so I've opted to do Tyranids for my 40k force and it's definite this time as I've just bought the book!

My thoughts on how I 'see' the army is Warrior brood, and gaunts all close combat equipped legging it across the board as fast as poss, with Ravenors which are a personal favourite! They'll be backed up by heavy support choices with anti tank and hard stuff weapons.I haven't actually looked through the codex yet, so i'm not sure if this is feasible.

I'll take a look at the codex later as I need to get some Crusaderz painted :)

To keep up with your speed theme I would think zoanthropes better than carnifex's for AT along with lictors. Thier not the hardest of things but can take out tanks.

Does this mean I will need some Guard to deal with the Alien menace!?

Ok, here's my first attempt at a 1500pt Nid list:

Hive Tyrant: Adrenal Glands, Regen, Toxin Sacs, Psychic Scream, Paroxia - 225
3 Hive Guard - 150 (R)
3 Zoanthropes - 180 (R)
3 Warriors: 2 x Rending Claws & Scything Talons, 1 x Rending Claws, Lash Whip & Bone Sword - 105
3 Warriors: 2 x Rending Claws & Scything Talons, 1 x Rending Claws, Lash Whip & Bone Sword - 105
3 Warriors: Deathspitters - 105 (R)
16 Hormogaunts - 96
16 Hormogaunts - 96
3 Ravenors: Scything Talons & Rending Claws, Spinefists - 120
3 Ravenors: Scything Talons & Rending Claws, Spinefists - 120
Carnifex: Scything Talons & Heavy Venom Canon - 185 (R)

Well it's not massively huge and i'm not sure how it does on scoring units or anything like that as I haven't read the rulebook! I think it does have a nice mix of close combat ability and shooting, with the ability to take out troops, light vehicles and heavy tanks.

For scoring units, anything that's a Troops choice will score (unless it says otherwise. In your case this might be ripper swarms but you don't have any of them so it doesn't matter!)

(R) means it's a ranged unit!

Here's a quick rundown on other stuff.

Heavy venom Cannon - 36" ST9 AP4 Assault1, Blast

The Zoanthropes have 2 psychic abilities, one is 18" ST10 AP1 Assault1Lance and the other is 24" ST5 AP3 Assault1 Blast.
