Imperial Guard!! Heresy

Imperial Guard!! Heresy

Postby Scotty » Feb 8th, '10, 17:55

I have fallen into the big hole of buying more toy soldiers again!!

However this is it I promise to be the the last GW stuff I get.

I have bought the book and come up with a decent but cost££ effective as I can get list

Company Command HQ-
2 Flamers
2 Plasma Guns
Officer of the Fleet
Chimera Transport 175pts

Platoon Command squad
2 Meltaguns
Lascannon

Infantry squad 1
+Heavy Bolter

Infantry squad 2
+Heavy Bolter

Infantry squad 3
meltagun
Chimera

Infantry squad 3
meltagun
Chimera

Storm Troopers- 9 men

Veteran squad
2 plasma guns
1 flamer
Chimera

3 Scout Sentinels
Autocannons

Banewolf

Leman Russ Exterminator
Leman Russ Exterminator

I am also tempted to drop the Infantry platoon for another two Veteran squads and Chimeras's and that would leave me with 90pts to spend on some other kit

*Cracks knuckles*

Awesome!

Some advice though.

I've done an awful lot of footering around with heavy and special weapon set ups in my Guard army and have learned a few tricks / enhancements that you could use.

I'll try some reorganising. See if this improves at all?

-----------------------------

Company Command HQ-
Lascannon
2 Plasma Guns
Officer of the Fleet
Master of Ordinance (This way you won't be moving, so why not have something else shooty?)
Chimera Transport
- 5 fire points and 'command vehicle' means that your squad is safe and can fire outside quite happily while issuing orders.

Platoon Command squad
3 Flamers

Chimera (put heavy flamer on Chimera.)

Infantry squad 1
+Heavy Bolter (Autocannons are far better for the same points, just ask James' Ork Kans army - I have some spares that fit on the old metal cradle with some greenstuff.)

Infantry squad 2
+Heavy Bolter (Autocannons are far better for the same points, just ask James' Ork Kans army )

Veteran Squad
3 meltaguns (Ballistic skill 4 and concentrated firepower)
Chimera Heavy Flamer

Infantry squad 3
Random heavy weapon (I have some spare missile launcher arms that suit plastic cadians)

Storm Troopers- 9 men

Veteran squad
2 plasma guns
1 melta gun
Chimera Heavy Flamer

3 Scout Sentinels
Autocannons

Banewolf

Leman Russ Exterminator
Leman Russ Exterminator
3rd Heavy Support Choice - You need some AP 3, like a classic battlecannon, or even a cheapish artillery piece
1500pts Imperial Guard
Unpainted: 2 Chimeras, Vulture Gunship, 15 guardsmen, 10 Veterans.
Painted: Vendetta Gunship, 35 guardsmen, Chimera, Marbo, Manticore, Leman Russ
Working on: Valkyrie Transport. 10 Veterans

I have been tempted by

Company Command HQ-
2 Flamers
2 Plasma Guns
*Officer of the Fleet (*Carapace armour)
*Krak Greandes
Chimera Transport

Veteran squad
2 plasma guns
1 flamer
Grenadier doctrine
Chimera

Veteran squad
2 plasma guns
1 flamer
Grenadier doctrine
Chimera

Veteran squad
2 plasma guns
1 flamer
Grenadier doctrine
Chimera

Veteran squad
1 melta gun
1 heavy flamer
Demoliton doctrine
Chimera

2 Armoured Sentinals- Autocannons (*searchlights)

Leman Russ Exterminator- dozer blade, side sponson heavy bolters (*extra armour)
Leman Russ Executioner- dozer blade, side sponson Plasma Cannons (*extra armour)

1498pts

I like the idea of a fast moving guard army, I do not wish to be static and am keen on getting stuck in. Treat it like a SS company minus the commissars.

*possible changes

The thing is, that has now got only 1 unit that can kill a land raider.

In saying that however, fully mechanised armies are pretty much the strongest force in 40k (by basically discounting the majority of the other players units). However, pretty much every army can go 'all mech' if they want to, so in the grand scheme of things, it isn't too unbalanced. However, it can be a very painful experience for those not prepared for them. - It's why I have so many autocannons.

You're probably better off with a melta bomb than krak grenades on your HQ. Also, extra armour is a bit too overpriced to be much use at all.

But yeah, anti (heavy) tank!

I've not got too much in the way of HV anit tank however I hav a few things.

And I haven't seen that mnay big nasty things kicking about club so all the Hv bolters from the chimeras will cause anyone head aches!

Just deciding on which Inf to use..

Valhallans
Krieg
Steel legion
Cadians

Just a shame you can't have autocannons on the Chimeras.

Well I also have a Demolisher but... would need to drop exterminator and some stuff for it.
I might try this in the future

Otherwise I will sell whatever spare I have afterwards

But I can put the master of Ordanace in for the lose of the extra armour. Would be worth that template.
